What type of ski trips do you offer?
I offer the whole spectrum of ski touring experiences: From Alaska Range fly-in glacier basecamps, sail to ski in Norway, to day trips in the Tetons and Wasatch, we can set up a great trip for you and your group.
Do you provide equipment rentals?
Depending on the location, and trip type, we can facilitate rentals of niche ski equipment, and other specialty items. If skiing in the Tetons, Jackson Hole Mountain Guides has excellent backcountry setups for rent.
How far in advance should I book?
Inquiries are always welcome, but my schedule fills quickly. Generally, the bigger the trip, the more notice I need.
Want to ski in the Alaska range from a basecamp? Please contact me by November to book the following Spring.
Day or multi-day tours in the Tetons and Salt Lake City area: Feel free to contact me any time, but 6 weeks of notice helps me accommodate the best dates for you.
What courses do you offer?
Avalanche Courses: Level I, Level II, Rescue, and custom in field days to apply knowledge from prior courses.
Rock Climbing: Intro to Leading, Anchor Building, Intro to Multi-Pitch, and Companion Rescue.
How do I book a trip?
Just send me a message at info@rkalpine.com! We can discuss what you want to do and go from there!
What level skier should I be to ski in the backcountry?
Backcountry skiing is very different from the resort. In many ways it's easier: the snow is typically soft, there are no moguls, and we typically don't ski enough runs to tire our legs.
But, you should have the basics down. I recommend you are able to comfortably at the intermediate level (blue square) before ski touring. The Wasatch and Tetons have great terrain for transitioning to backcountry!
